Las Cruces, NM (June 9, 2014) Today, Franco Whole Foods will be joined by a host of dignitaries when they announce that Franco is investing in a major investment property operation in Las Cruces that, when fully functioning, will employ over 160 people.
The road to this day began months ago when Jacob Slavec, Associate Broker, at NAI 1st Valley, connected with Mike Franco, CEO of Franco Whole Foods, and showed them that Las Cruces could work for them. Mike Franco: “He did a tremendous job in working to make sure that the real estate needs of Franco Whole Foods were addressed. Without Jacob and the NAI 1st Valley team, especially Jake Redfearn, we might have considered moving our operation to another market.” Jake Redfearn represented the building’s owner in the transaction.
Franco Whole Foods has over 50 years of family experience producing and distributing tortillas. At this time they specialize in the production of high quality pre-cooked flour and corn tortillas and pre-cooked multigrain flatbreads
The private – public partnership included public servants at several levels:
Governor Susana Martinez: “As we continue to work to diversify and grow New Mexico’s private-sector economy, we are proud to welcome California-based Franco Whole Foods to Las Cruces,” said Governor Martinez. “Results like this show that diversifying our economy by competing for jobs and attracting new businesses pays off for our families and communities.”
Mayor Miyagashima: “We are extremely excited that Franco Whole Foods has decided to call Las Cruces home to its new operations. In addition to their product line complementing our rich agricultural heritage, their investment will bring renewed vitality and employment opportunity to the city center and downtown areas.”
Councillor Nathan Small: “We welcome Franco Whole Foods to 875 West Amador, where transportation, the City Center, and reinvestment meet. We worked with Franco Whole Foods’ representatives and MVEDA to protect the public interest, welcome private investment and expand our economy. Las Cruces is committed to Franco Whole Foods and is increasing economic opportunity using Wage Plus and other innovative economic development programs”.
Davin Lopez of MVEDA: “MVEDA and the City of Las Cruces understood the positive impact that Franco Whole Foods’ investment would create for the Amador corridor and found creative private-public support to secure their commitment.”
